(Nivel B2) Our students recommend...“THE DUKE AND I” by Julia Quinn

A revolution of the modern literature has just arrived! “Bridgerton” is the new saga of the eight wealthy Bridgerton siblings. In fact, this review is going to be about the eldest of the daughter’s story and, it has to be said, it will have plenty of heartrending moments.

The story is set in 1913 and because she’s a woman, Daphne Bridgerton is aiming to be properly married. Despite her beauty, she doesn’t have any suitors and she is going through a desperate moment. At the same time, Simon, better known as the recent Duke of Hastings, arrives to London.

This story becomes intriguing when they first met and they make a fake marriage agreement, so Daphne can catch the attention of other suitors and the Duke can be left alone by the ambitious mammas. Then, their relationship becomes more than just friendly... the past actions remain and they aren’t going to be unforgotten, though.

Finally, if you like Jane Austen’s novels, I would highly recommend you this book. The plot is extremely catchy and the descriptions and characters are just incredible. Besides, the touches of humour and the familiar environment make the reading even more interesting.

What are you waiting for, then?
